Running into medic Will Baron again at her sister's wedding reception is a pleasant surprise for Arley Meehan -- and that's before he rescues her from
an ugly scene with her ex-husband. Not that she expects a relationship to develop. Arley has her work with the Head Start program and her son, Scottie, and that's enough. But despite everything -- her ex, their disapproving families and Will's impending deployment -- they can't help getting involved. Cheryl Reavis' Medicine Man (2) has a lot going on, and some strong characters work. But too much of the plot hinges on Arley's
problems with her ex-husband, and there's precious little motivation for
his nastiness.
