American mystery author Kathie Williams is in England for a book convention when she meets Scotsman and mystery reader Iain MacLaren. The mutual attraction causes Kathie to change her travel plans and spend three weeks with Iain on his sheep farm in Scotland.

Though being with Iain is all she could have imagined, dealing with sheep, Bridget (the neighbor who wants Iain for herself) and Archie (Iain's son, who doesn't want to share his father) puts a strain on things. However, that's nothing compared to the stress they experience when Kathie takes Iain home to meet her family.

With MEN IN KILTS, MacAlister once again produces an engaging story that has many laugh-out-loud moments. The characters are all pleasingly unique, and the hero is all man. Though an entertaining read, it isn't up to the caliber of her previous books. (Oct., 320 pp., $6.99)
