Amanda Ashley (aka Madeline Baker) draws her readers into a richly textured period piece with a gallant vampire that wants to do the right thing, but can't because of love.

Dying from the disease that killed her family and most of the villagers in her
town, Analisa is visited in her hospital room by a mysterious doctor and
miraculously recovers. He pays her medical bills and offers her his home while
she recuperates.

Analisa quickly discovers Lord Alesandro de Avallone's secret, yet because she
sees him as a person and not a monstrous vampire, she quickly gets into his
heart. Analisa's awakening desire draws the lonely Alesandro into her arms, where
their passion clouds his senses...until an ancient foe threatens everything he
holds dear.
