Book Review

A MILE IN MY FLIP-FLOPS
by Melody Carlson

Genre: Inspirational, Chick Lit

RT Rating

Prolific author Carlson pens another delightful novel. House-flipping shows have become the rage, and this book will appeal to those who think, "I could do that!" Gretchen's adventures are realistic and portrayed with a great deal of humor. But the conclusion wraps everything up extremely quickly, and much too perfectly, given the overall tone of the rest of the book.

After a disappointing broken engagement, Gretchen Hanover has found comfort in watching home improvement television. Lacking a home of her own to improve, she embarks on a quest to find a home to "flip" -- fix up and sell at a profit. Gretchen makes up for her lack of renovation skills with her drive to complete the project, but she ends up needing help from her father's carpenter friend, Noah Campbell. Is the project doomed to failure just like her love life, or can she turn that around too? (WATERBROOK, Jun., 336 pp., $13.99)
