Y’Barbo’s second installment in the adventurous Secret Lives of Will Tucker series is an absolute treasure, and has all the elements that made Flora’s Wish, the first book, such a great read. We are rooting for Millie from page one, hoping she figures things out before it’s too late, and in more than just one area of her life.
Millie’s about to be engaged to the handsome and brilliant Sir William Trueck. When they marry she will move to England, where she imagines she will be free to pursue her interests in science and cryptology. She will be able to put her family tragedies behind her. She doesn’t realize this is no Sir at all. Her intended is in fact the notorious Will Tucker, scamming again, looking for a hidden treasure map. Pinkerton agent Kyle Russell has been tracking Tucker for years and is disappointed when he’s pulled off the case for a short period to help find some lost Confederate gold. He is dismayed until his boss tells him one of his inventions may be of use in the hunt. When Kyle tries out his new personal flying machine, Millie happens upon him — floating. The two get off to a bit of a rocky start, but soon, the world of cryptology, treasures and hidden maps explodes and Millie and Kyle are on an adventure that reveals more than her heart would have ever thought possible.
