In The Millionaire's Blackmail Bargain (4), by Heidi Rice, London newspaper editorial assistant Carmel Rourke tries to ascertain the identity of a mysterious crime novelist by sneaking into his hotel room. But Jack Devlin finds her in his bathroom, and their encounter results in a night of passion. Carmel sneaks out, believing that she'll never see Jack again, but when she walks into her boss's office, there he is. Jack promises Carmel's paper an exclusive on his coming out if Carmel agrees to accompany him on his book tour, with the excuse that she'll be able to write a more in-depth article, Carmel reluctantly agrees. What follows is a delightful story about two people reluctantly falling in love while putting to bed some demons from their pasts.
