Hearing his son Sean speak again is millionaire Gavin Spencer's priority, and speech pathologist M.J. Taylor can make it happen. Being around children is difficult since her son's death, but M.J.'s paying off her late husband's debts and Gavin's a generous employer. Gavin's embittered by love, which M.J. discovers when they become lovers. As M.J. works with Sean, her pain eases, but she wonders if Gavin will ever trust -- or love -- her. Teresa Southwick's At the Millionaire's Request (4) showcases her skill with plotting, and a dark moment is effective because it springs so naturally from the natures of the characters.
