Book Review

by Kiersten White

Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal

RT Rating

Nonstop action and thrills! The definite highlight here is the dangerous but vulnerable Fia. Little sister Annie, however, seems mostly naïve and selfish. White switches POV between the sisters, but Fia is the undisputed star here. A broken, warped and realistic romance fills out the plot. Action-packed yet character driven, this is a great series first.

Offering a home to orphan Fia and her blind sister Annie, the school claimed to be a place for special children. But they are separated, and Fia begins to crumble as she is trained to be an assassin. Annie, who sees visions of the future, is not the only gifted sister. By the time Annie realizes what’s happening, she’s imprisoned, and Fia won’t leave without her. Manipulated, the sisters each use their powers to do terrible things, because disobeying means risking the other. But then Fia finds a line she will not — cannot — cross.
