Gould’s latest is centered on one charming and optimistic heroine and her need to be in control of everything in her life. With her descriptive yet concise writing, Gould is a master storyteller as she weaves a plot that is as tender and real as they come. Her expert knowledge and insight on the ways of the Amish make this story one delight of a read.

Molly Zook doesn’t want to fulfill her mother’s wish for her to marry Mervin Mosier. She has a special fondness for Leon Fisher, a horse trainer at a nearby ranch. Unwilling to relinquish control of her life, Molly takes things into her own hands and sets up Mervin with her best friend, Hannah. Yet things end up in a muddle, and now Molly is not certain how things will go with Leon. (BETHANY HOUSE, Feb., 352 pp., $14.99)
