Damali is a spoken-word artist, not to mention a vampire slayer. Lately things have been… different. Her guardians feel the change too. Meanwhile, successful nightclub owner Carlos, who is at the top of his game, has noticed that some extremely bad things are happening to those who are close to him.

Once friends with Carlos, Damali now seems to be destined to fight with him against a common enemy—if she can convince this one-time potential beau that what they are fighting is not of this world. At the same time, she must also deal with the changes happening within herself.

MINION, the first in the Dark Legends series, is a bit confusing, but still manages to draw readers in with a wonderfully creative world of vampires and demons. The heroine and her friends will leave you eager for Book 2. (Jun., 304 pp., $12.95)
