Genre: Mainstream, General Mainstream Fiction

RT Rating

Celello’s debut is a story of lies, secrets and betrayal set against the backdrop of beautiful Vancouver Island. The skillfully portrayed, believably flawed heroine has to simultaneously come to grips with the upheaval of everything she knows and her tumultuous past. Celello gets to the heart of the human character, making this story one powerful read.

When Macy Allen loses her husband, Nash, in a tragic accident, her world is turned on its side. When she discovers that he has been keeping secrets, it is a blow that threatens to destroy what she thought her marriage was. Meanwhile, Nash’s mother, Magda, is dealing with her own dissolving marriage and blames Macy for the accident. In the midst of this grief and pain, a young girl appears on their doorstep, her presence changing their lives unexpectedly. (NAL, Aug., 336 pp., $14.00)
