Gray presents the Amish culture with a realistic perspective on their customs that is both refreshing and captivating. The first Secrets of Crittenden book is a story about forgiveness, truth and love with a good element of mystery.

When the body of Perry Borntrager is discovered in an abandoned well in an Amish community, a detective from the outside world looks into the matter. Lydia Plank and Walker Anderson, the victim’s ex-girlfriend and best friend, are questioned. While both are adamant about their innocence, they hold secrets regarding their past with Perry.
