THE MISSING COLTON (4.5) by Loreth Anne White: Journalist Jagger McKnight arrives in Dead River, Wyo., because of a 30-year-old case involving the kidnapping of infant ranching scion Cole Colton. Jagger is drawn to this case, having himself been kidnapped as a baby. On his way to Colton Ranch, he is brutally attacked. Ranch staff nurse Mia Sanders finds Jagger lying unconscious in a field the next morning and brings him to the ranch to care for him. Jagger has landed at the center of the Baby Cole mystery, and as Mia cares for him, they connect on a deep level. White skillfully intertwines Jagger’s past and present into a complex, suspenseful plot. Add to that the vulnerability and toughness of both Jagger and Mia and this is one amazing page-turner.
