Book Review

by Nancy Mehl

Genre: Inspirational, Mystery/Thriller/Suspense

RT Rating

Mehl’s style is like listening to an old-time storyteller spin a blend of humor and mystery that is hard to put down. The characters are captivating and the descriptions vivid. Readers will quickly connect with Hilde and her antics. For Spam lovers (the meat, not mail), an interesting recipe is included.

Hilde Higgins, hairdresser to the recently departed, knows hair … and she is confident that her new “client” is not Mabel Winnemaker. When Hilde tries to straighten out the error, she is accused of stealing the deceased’s diamond ring. Her eccentric neighbor and a childhood friend believe in her innocence and want to help. Will Hilde, with her love of mystery novels and photographic memory, find the missing Mabel? (BARBOUR, Sep., 256 pp., $10.99)
