Although Mistletoe Wishes is being released under the general Harlequin imprint, the three holiday-themed novellas within have more in common with the Harlequin Presents series line than other contemporary Harlequin releases. It’s not exactly the most heartwarming holiday collection (dead spouses galore!), but it should please readers who like their heroes unimaginably wealthy, unbelievably handsome and with a touch of arrogance.

In “The Billionaire’s Christmas Gift” by Mortimer, schoolteacher Beth Morgan and billionaire Nick Steele are both widows who were planning on spending Christmas Day alone … until Nick’s daughter plays holiday matchmaker. In “One Christmas Night in Venice” by Porter, Diane Mayer had thought she lost her husband, Dominic Coducci, in a car accident five years ago -- until she sees him at a party a week before Christmas, alive. Things are even more complicated: Dominic is engaged.
And in “Snowbound With the Millionaire” by George, Georgia Smith finds herself trapped in millionaire Chance Warner’s mansion during a Christmas Day snowstorm. One guess as to how they pass the time … (HARLEQUIN, Oct., 320 pp., $7.99)
