When Leon Stapinopolous buys a premier perfume house, he doesn't realize the sale excludes the formula for the house's famous scent, Myrrh. When Sadie Roberts, the scent's designer, discovers Leon wants to reproduce Myrrh, she refuses to sell the formula and work for him, which sets off a passionate battle of wills between the two. A strong chemistry ignites, but how can they enjoy a happily ever after when neither one will compromise? THE MISTRESS PURCHASE (3) by Penny Jordan falls a bit short. The characters are delightful, but whenever the subject of perfume creation comes up, the dialogue turns into nonstop lecture. Luckily, Jordan is a wonderful storyteller and has penned a lovely romance between two unlikely people that carries the book through even these lulls.
