There are no deep issues here, just an entertaining, juicy story about a long-married couple who knows what works for them. Dialogue between the likable characters is very funny and reads like a conversation among friends.

New York mayor Douglas Brennan’s second term is nearly over when he is approached about filling a soon-to-be-vacant U.S. Senate seat. Being from a political dynasty, Doug is tempted, but he promised his wife Elle he’d retire from public life. And their sister-in-law is dragging Elle into her divorce petition, as the tabloids have a field day. (GENESIS/INDIGO LOVE SPECTRUM, Jun., 298 pp., $6.99)
