For most of the last 10 years, Allison Jennings has raised her prodigy son Ethan on her own. Luckily, despite having another family to support, Allison's ex has been a good father; it's just that money's been tight all the way around.

Allison's job with Tastee Freeze barely covers their expenses, and with her car on its last legs, things are getting tough. When Ethan wins a science contest and gets an all-expense-paid trip to an MIT summer camp, Allison is thrilled. Now she is free
to take up an offer from her old high
school chum Bunny to attend the posh Needham bash.

On the other side of the tracks, wealthy scientist Dex Needham III is still ducking the press over his high-profile non-wedding debacle. Unfortunately, the Needham family is hosting another one of its parties, and Dex feels obligated to attend. Little does he know that a blast from the past is about to change his future.
