'Tis the time of year for Berkley to deliver another batch of thrilling and magical tales.

"Musketeer By Moonlight" is Maggie Shayne's delightful tale of a swashbuckling defender magically transported into the modern era. With a death threat hanging over her, P.I. Mary Catherine Hammer can certainly use some assistance. She just never expected her helper to speak French and be adept with a sword.

Talented Lindsay Longford explores the power of dreams in her offering, "Midnight Lover." Meggie Blake and Rafe Jackson have little in common but a past filled with pain. Yet in their dreams, a passion grows.

Viscount Jack Merrick is dead, but whether by suicide or murder, that is the question. When Ms. Madeline Spencer inherits Merrick Hall she must make peace with a very handsome and angry ghost. "Shades of Moonlight" is Angie Ray's captivating short story.

Katherine Sutcliffe rounds out the group with her eerie "The Wolf Keeper." An unsuspecting Amelia McBain realizes that she is in way over her head when she comes to Lycaon Castle to teach the young son of the cursed Earl Lycaon. Dark secrets and deadly danger seem to surround everyone in the castle.

Lovers of the paranormal are in for a treat as this outstanding quartet of authors delivers pure magic! (Oct., 336 pp., $5.99)
