McQuiston secures her reputation for creating romantic, empathetic and unique love stories. She truly touches readers with her characters’ compassion toward one another, as well as to a dog too adorable not to love.

Julianne Baxter’s testimony that Patrick, Earl of Haversham, murdered his brother sent Patrick fleeing London, leaving his life in chaos. Julianne tracks Patrick down in a small Scottish village where he is the local veterinarian. She has to convince him to return and rescue his family, but her impulsive actions will likely destroy her reputation. A hasty handfasting may save it, as well as Patrick’s life. Seeing his tenderness toward others convinces Julianne that Patrick would never kill anyone. Together they follow a rocky trail, piecing together clues that lead to the real killer.
