Shannyn Schroeder’s debut novel proves she knows how to craft a romance. Although the lead characters have great chemistry, the plot is a bit trite for the average reader. This book is a pleasant, quick read for those looking for a familiar story about a heroine who cannot see what’s right in front of her.

Reserved teacher Quinn Adams is unlucky in love, and has always dreamed of having a husband and children. She gives up on finding a man and devises a plan to get pregnant during her summer off. In the meantime, her friends encourage her to complete a list of adventures including a passionate summer romance. Enter handsome bar owner Ryan O’Leary. Always up for a challenge, he is determined to convince Quinn to postpone motherhood and take a chance on a relationship instead. (E-KENSINGTON, Jan., dl. $5.99)
