The latest in Morgan’s Snowberry Creek series has two vulnerable, sympathetic characters at its center. With strong storytelling and a tender plot, this tale is equal parts heartwarming, romantic and genuine. Morgan showcases the struggles of wounded veterans, and she highlights the power of love to heal. A truly touching read.

Injured veteran Leif Brevik comes to Snowberry Creek to help a fellow soldier on a restoration of their comrade’s house. Leif is guilt-ridden over the loss of his friend and, because of his injury, is unsure where he’ll end up in his military career. Zoe Phillips, the nurse assigned to oversee Leif’s physical therapy, understands his wounds — not just the physical ones — since she once was a military nurse. Unexpectedly, healing comes to both of them as their connection deepens. (SIGNET ECLIPSE, Jan., 336 pp., $7.99)
