Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Amateur Sleuth, Historical

RT Rating

The working relationship between Lady Darby and Sebastian Gage continues to become increasingly personal in Huber’s latest mystery. The setting is described in detail, bringing 18th-century Scotland to life. The characters are true to their time period, yet their emotional qualities allow readers to identify with them. The mystery is well plotted, with many unique twists that stem from Lady Darby’s unconventional role in life.

Lady Kiera Darby accompanies her pregnant sister to Edinburgh for much-needed medical care. Although she would never admit it, Kiera is excited to be in the same city as investigator Sebastian Gage. While there, she plans to attend the wedding of an old family friend. When a local girl goes missing and the groom’s brother becomes a suspect, Kiera once again must use her medical knowledge to help Sebastian solve the crime. (PRIME CRIME, Sep., 384 pp., $16.00)
