A smart mystery with slight gothic overtones, this romance has an intelligent heroine and sexy hero, plots against the queen, intriguing twists and surprises at many corners. All of this makes Chase's first Her Majesty's Secret Servants novel a page-turner.

Once childhood friends of Princess Victoria, the Sutherland sisters are called upon to be Victoria's secret servants to investigate plots against the Crown. When Victoria suspects that her cousin George Fitzclarence is a threat, she asks Laurel to pose as a widow and ferret out the truth. She must gain George's trust, but undercover agent Aidan Phillips stands in her way.

Working to find the men responsible for a financial scheme that involves alchemy and murder, Aidan is sidetracked by the lovely widow. Is she Fitzclarence's cohort, and what does she want to keep secret? Perhaps the only way to find out is to seduce the lady. Suspense grows as quickly as passion, leading to an exciting climax.
