Miriam Spencer dreamed of leaving the farming life she knew, taking Jake Steele with her. But an interfering mother and conniving best friend saw to it that she left the farm all right, but without Jake. Now with the death of her mother and the need to sell the property, Miriam is back. The first person she meets is Jake and old feelings flood to the surface. But both their situations have changed. Hes a widower raising a daughter and shes in trouble financially. Can either of them let go of their pride, past and problems to see that the future is bright together? Carolyne Aarsens book, A MOTHER AT HEART (4), opens well and the story carries through nicely, despite an ending that feels a little rushed.
