MOUNTAIN LAUREL (3) by Kate Welsh is another strong novel with tender characters. When Cole's father discovers that the new trainer at Laurel Glen is a woman, he wants her gone. But Cole makes a deal allowing CJ Larsen to remain and prove herself. Cole always promised that if he ever met someone with the attitude of his sister, Hope, he'd turn and run. But before he can, he begins to struggle with his feelings for CJ. Cole believes he's incapable of love and always being at odds with CJ proves it. When a serious disease strikes CJ's horse, she and Cole work to save her and prove they can get along. Still Cole is unsure if he does or does not have feelings for CJ. A little too much introspection is the only flaw in this well-written, sweet romance.
