Grace Greenleigh feels that she has lived her life backwards. She dropped out of college, had a baby, got married, got divorced, got a job and now, at 35, has decided to go back to college. She tells her best friend and her ex-husband, Gil, that it's to get a better job, but really she feels that everyone around her is making changes and she's being left behind. Soon she's attracting a man nine years younger, one of her professors, and generally living a newly complicated life. My Backwards Life (4) by Cindi Myers is filled with humor, sympathetic characters and all the complications that modern life can bring. It's especially nice that Grace's daughter is a teenage girl who is finding her way but not being bitterly unpleasant.
