Book one in the Bound in Darkness series begins as Irish knight Simon is unwittingly caught in a master vampire's attack and turned into one of the undead. Hating what he has become, Simon is on a quest for the elusive cure. Rumor has it that an ancient chalice hidden away in England holds the answer.

He arrives at Lady Isabel's castle as darkness falls, planning on finding clues about the chalice's whereabouts and quickly leaving, but fate has something quite different planned. Isabel is unaware that she holds the key to Simon's redemption—or that her growing love for him will place them all in danger.

Taking her cue from the original vampire legends and adding bits from TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, along with a touch of Van Helsing, Blue (aka Jayel Wylie ) pens a fascinating, reimagining of a vampire's search for salvation. Once you're hooked on this first glimpse of Simon and Isabel, you'll be thirsty for more. SENSUAL (Jan., 368 pp., $6.99)
