What could be a better introduction to her new neighborhood than being kidnapped by a smuggler, Violet Treacher wonders the night she arrives in Cornwall.

Sebastian, the Marquess of St. Just, has to get rid of his new neighbor. He tries to buy the tumbledown estate Violet inherited, but the willful widow refuses, so he resorts to his alter ego, "Robert the Brute," to scare her off. But a night spent in a cave proves that she's no shrinking Violet -- and that he's losing his heart.

Violet isn't sure if it's pride or her desire to see the sexy smuggler that keeps her at Trembledown. One thing is sure, though, there's more going on than smuggling. When Violet and Sebastian get caught in a game of spy meets spy, things are turned topsy-turvy.

Bassett evokes the Regency atmosphere along with the foggy, moonlit shores of Cornwall in an adventure romance tinged with just the right amount of humor and passion. The delightful dialogue alongside slowly building suspense sets the pages flying! SENSUAL (Jul., 416 pp., $5.99)
