McMaster expands the world of her London Steampunk series with this excellent third installment. As always, her characters are beautifully drawn and the tension between them is completely smoking, even as both struggle to find themselves after years of barely existing. Here readers have the chance to explore different aspects of the dark, menacing and strangely beautiful world that McMaster has crafted.

Rosalind Fairchild rules the night as Mercury, the most wanted revolutionary in London. But when her brother goes missing, she realizes she has to become part of the society she loathes in order to find word of him. Accepting a position beside Sir Jasper Lynch, leader of the Nighthawks, means working side-by-side with the man who has sworn to bring her to justice. Rosa is a master of disguise and subterfuge, but she never counted on the perception and tenacity of the dedicated Lynch — or the overwhelming passion that threatens to consume them both.
