It's not easy being a singer, comedienne and actress. Just ask Ceylon Simmons. After her brother, who also happens to be her business manager, runs off with her money, Ceylon is coping with his betrayal, the IRS and her staggering exhaustion when her best friend offers her the use of a family vacation home.

Martin Deveraux comes to the house to install a shower and winds up staying to flirt with Ceylon. Although they'd been attracted to each other in the past, this time the fire spreads because of the secrets they've chosen to share. However, Martin finds it hard to believe any woman could love him and this is just one of the obstacles they'll have to face.

I fell in love with MY ONE AND ONLY LOVE by the end of the first chapter. These characters are so vivid they jump off the page, and the dialogue is top-notch. Excellent read! (Aug., 280 pp., $5.99)
