For as long as she can remember, Celeste has been infatuated with the devilishly handsome and roguish Ellery Throckmorton, even though she knows the gardeners daughter can never hope to win the heart of a nobleman.

After schooling at the Distinguished Academy of Governesses and spending time in Paris, she returns a lovely, accomplished young woman and takes a position as Ellerys daughters governess.

Celeste is still in love with Ellery, but his dour, older brother Garrick cannot allow her to thwart his plans to arrange a marriage for Ellery. So he sets out to lure her away.

It is fun to see the manipulative Garrick get caught in his own trap, and with the added plot twist of a possible spy in their midst, as well as the girls and their antics, readers will enjoy Ms. Dodds delightful take on the classic Sabrina storyline. (Oct., 372 pp., $6.99)
