Excellent character development is the highlight of Anderson’s tale — Madeline and Rebel are often at odds as Rebel struggles to maintain his heritage and lifestyle while keeping Madeline by his side.

No longer satisfied in the E.R., Dr. Madeline Mitchell hopes her decision to become a general practitioner on the Lakota reservation is the right one. In walks Rebel, the enigmatic medicine man whose aura overwhelms the small clinic. Madeline soon discovers all is not well on the reservation.
