The second novel of the Mystic Isles series is pure Rice. With whimsical and subtle touches of humor and memorable characters, she cleverly blends the paranormal with the historical events of the French Revolution in this passionate, very sensual romance. Her powerful voice and talent as a great storyteller make this one another keeper.

Sky Rider Ian Olympus'
visions will take him on a journey to the outside world, where he's to bring back the sacred chalice of Aelynn, now in the possession of a woman the gods have ordained to be his mate. She is Chantal Orateur Deveau, a young Frenchwoman and a revolutionary with a special gift of music. A strong and sensual attraction sparks between them, and they are as one in mind and body. When the chalice goes missing again, Ian's visions are still filled with the bloodshed of the revolution to come.

Fearful for Chantal's life, he must choose between his duty to his people and the woman who's his physical and spiritual equal. But she bears a mark -- will this bode good or bad for his people, and will they accept her as his wife and amacara, keeper of his future? (SIGNET ECLIPSE, Jul., 384 pp., $7.99)
