Award-winning editor Ellen Datlow pulls together 20 authors to produce quite the cross-section of gritty and intriguing short stories. Cities are the theme and each of these talented authors has their own unique take on urban life combined with the supernatural, some mischievous and menacing. These stories pack quite a punch and run the gambit in terms of their style and tone.

A sampling of the stories offered include Jim Butcher’s “Curses,” where Wizard Harry Dresden investigates a curse placed on the Chicago Cubs. In “Fairy Gifts” by Patricia Briggs, a vampire returns home to repay an old debt. Melissa Marr returns to the world introduced in her Graveminder novel with “Guns for the Dead.” Naomi Novik delivers “Priced to Sell,” which explores the N.Y. real estate market, supernatural style.
