Well-known contemporary author Dreyer’s second in the Drake’s Rakes series is pure joy to read! Dreyer displays her phenomenal sense of atmosphere in an emotionally powerful and beautifully rendered love story. Using the traditional marriage-of-convenience theme but twisting and turning the plot, the consummate storyteller makes the conventional unconventional. Combining beautifully crafted, engaging characters with an intriguing mystery adds depth.

Miss Grace Fairchild has followed her father on all his military postings and knows little about the ton’s strict rules. Plain and too tall for most men, she has ruled out marriage. Then she wakes up to find a naked man in her bed. Diccan Hilliard is on a dangerous mission when he is somehow drugged and left in Grace’s bed. The honorable thing to do is marry her. Diccan finds Grace intriguing. She is not a great beauty, but she is smart, forthright and passionate. When Diccan’s mission collides with his marriage Grace is pulled into a traitorous plot. But even as that danger passes they are thrust into more trouble and only the realization of how much Diccan needs and loves Grace can save them. (FOREVER, Apr., 433 pp., $7.99)
