Small-town New England reporter Lucy Stone gets embroiled in murder when she travels to New York with daughter Elizabeth. It's Christmastime, and Lucy and Elizabeth have won a magazine contest to participate in a mother/daughter makeover contest.

Lucy and Elizabeth's daily rounds of fashion and makeup are interrupted when one of Jolie magazine's top employees gets sick and dies, and Elizabeth becomes gravely ill. Lucy is determined to discover the party responsible.

Meier's latest eclectic characters--the pageant's zany participants and the narcissistic magazine editors--will leave you chuckling, even as the mystery heats up. This cozy is certain to appeal to anyone who enjoys laugh-out-loud humor with a thoughtful mystery. (Nov., 256 pp., $22.00)
