Billy Rendell has a frog. Not any old frog, but a jade frog given to her by Blinda, her therapist, when nothing in her life was going right. Suddenly, Billy's life starts changing big time. She's getting everything and everyone she's wanted in this comical roller-coaster ride.

Her relationship with her husband is at honeymoon level, and a man she was flirting with at work is coming on strong. She gets the promotion she wanted but at the expense of a friend. Is this too much of a good thing? And then, no matter how hard she tries to throw away the frog, it's always on her nightstand in the morning.

All the characters add vibrancy to a story that explores how we live with the mistakes we make, how we correct the ones we can and how love forms an unfailing bond. (Sep., 320 pp., $12.95)
