RT Rating

Ashley is a go-to author for a classic vampire love story that’s never predictable. Night’s Mistress is the fifth in the series, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone. Fans have been waiting for Mara’s story, and the wait was well worth it! She is the oldest vampire in this entertaining world and has a lot of story to tell. This is a true page-turner with the perfect combination of engaging characters, first-class world building, a dash of mystery and a passionate romance.

Mara has been a vampire for centuries and while she’s been pursued by vampire and human alike, she’s never allowed herself to fall in love. Kyle Bowden is a mortal and the father of her unborn child. He is beautiful — ready to give himself to Mara forever, until he uncovers her secret. Logan Blackwood is a vampire Mara created. After 900 years, he’s a Hollywood millionaire with tremendous seductive power. Even after many lifetimes, Logan still pines for Mara. Now Mara’s time is running out and she must choose who will be the best father to her remarkable baby. First, she must do what she’s never done before: open her heart. (ZEBRA, Aug., 336 pp., $7.99)
