Burton draws the reader into another suspenseful story with her latest. Strong storytelling and an intriguing plot that is guaranteed to cause goose bumps keep the pages turning. Add to that a terrifying, sadistic villain and the heated sexual tension between Texas Ranger Brody and his ex-love, Jo, and you’re left with one thrill of a read.

There’s time for one last confession from serial killer Harvey Day Smith, who sits on Death Row, and Dr. Jo Granger is the one he has chosen to hear it. Since Jo’s estranged ex-husband, Texas Ranger Brody Winchester, arrested Harvey Smith years ago and is on the scene, Jo is now face-to-face again with her ex-love. He’s a man who still captivates her heart. Yet, with Smith’s confession, a new killer is revealed and a new danger arises — particularly for Jo. Brody’s aim is to keep her safe, especially now with his feelings for Jo rekindled. Will Jo allow him to have her heart, and can he save her life? (ZEBRA, Nov., 384 pp., $7.99)
