Book Review

NO ONE ELSE CAN HAVE YOU
by Kathleen Hale

Genre: Young Adult, Mystery

RT Rating

This debut novel is terrific, awesome, amazing — and it gets better with every page. Kippy is a truly great YA protagonist who is believable, yet weird, and readers will love her even as they shake their heads at her antics. Exploring the themes of grief and friendship, this well-written mystery will keep you guessing until the end. Read this immediately.

Wracked with grief after Ruth Fried’s body is found trussed up like a scarecrow in the corn field behind her house, Kippy Bushman learns more about her best friend — and their friendship — than she ever wanted to know when Ruth’s mother drops off the girl’s diary (so Kippy can edit out the sex parts). Unconvinced that the sheriff of the small town of Friendship, Wis., has found the right suspect, Kippy gets to investigating. (HARPERTEEN, Jan., 384 pp., $17.99, ISBN: 9780062211194, HC, 14 & Up)
