NO ORDINARY HERO (4.5) by Rachel Lee: Mike Windwalker hasn’t really spent time with his new neighbors — Del Carmody and her wheelchair-bound 14-year-old daughter Colleen. Del lost her husband three years earlier in the car accident that permanently injured Colleen. As Del works to renovate their home, mysterious noises and other frightening happenings are making Colleen and Del uneasy. Mike finds something about the house both sad and evil, and Del doesn’t believe in ghosts, but there’s no explanation for the happenings around her. Before they find the truth and open themselves to love, the danger grows. A scary story with well-developed secondary characters, a great blend of mystery and chills, builds to a strong and successful romantic end.
