NORTH COUNTRY HERO (4) by Lois Richer: Sara Kane takes a short-term job at Lives Under Construction youth center. She is in town to find her biological family, having spent many years in the foster care system. She would like to start over — and possibly find love. After being wounded in Afghanistan and dumped by his fiancée, Kyle is bitter and feeling alone, particularly after the recent death of his father. Sara and Kyle feel they have nothing to offer anyone, but they both want to help the youth center succeed. Can they learn to rely on someone other than themselves? This first installment in the Northern Lights series has themes of abandonment and feeling unworthy that will be relatable to many readers. The youth program is a wonderful idea, as we are all “under construction.”
