When celebrity chef Meredith Bingham Turner is asked to help turn a debt-ridden family property into a dude ranch, she jumps at the chance. Merry's unaware that her friend's brother, rancher Buck Porter, is opposed to the change -- and to her presence. Single dad Buck is embittered by love, though he softens toward Merry when she bonds with his young daughter. But can they find a way to be together? Christine Wenger's Not Your Average Cowboy (3) has a credible storyline, and the subplot involving Buck's daughter is touching. But Merry and Buck's connection never seems to move beyond the superficial.
