Obsession starts off with a bang and doesn’t stop until the end. While occasionally events move a little too quickly, the characters and the romantic tension between them always remain at the forefront. This book deals with a number of issues, such as cults, human trafficking and the drug trade, and it’s clear that the author has done her research. The book handles these topics well, although the ending brings a resolution that may be a little too cut and dried for such weighty topics. It’s definitely a romance at heart and well worth reading on those terms.

Against all odds, Angela Edmonds has clawed out from the ravages of drug abuse, escaped her insane parents and started a new life for herself and her son. That all changes when her father decides her son is the “chosen one” and kidnaps him for his religious cult. Angie is willing to make a deal with the devil to get her son back, and with help from Isabel, a cartel leader, and Alejandro, a sexy but dangerous double agent, she just may do exactly that. Fortunately, she happens to have a few angels on her side, too. (THEWILDROSEPRESS.COM, dl $4.99)
