The second book in the Semper Fi series is just as good as the first. Delving into the psyche of her hero, a military service member, Murray give readers an intimate look at the trials our heroes face when they aren’t on active duty. Murray is a wonderful storyteller and does an excellent job updating the reader on the previous story in this series and giving us a sneak preview of the next book. Her characters and their challenges are relatable, and will inspire readers to fight for what they want in their own lives.

Captain Jeremy Phillips made a promise to himself to stay far away from Madison O’Shay, his best friend’s sister and the woman he can’t get out of his mind. It doesn’t help that Madison wants him just as much and does not take kindly to the word “no.” Bowing down to temptation, Jeremy and Madison start an affair that he hopes to keep casual. Eventually he is forced to choose between the life his father wants for him and the one he wants for himself. (SOURCEBOOKS, Jan., 352 pp., $6.99)
