OLIVIA TWISTED
by Vivi Barnes

Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary Young Adult

RT Rating

One of the most interesting premises of any contemporary YA book this year. Moreover, its parallels to the literary powerhouse Oliver Twist are brilliant. With Barnes’ near-flawless writing, excellent character development and a smart storyline that readers will devour, this book deserves its RT Top Pick.

At sixteen, Olivia Westfield has seen more than her fair share of foster homes. As she tries to settle into her newest home and town, she meets a mysterious boy, Z. Soon Z introduces Olivia to the dark side of his world: computer hacking. As much as Olivia is falling for Z, she questions the morality of his lifestyle — and she’s making Z think twice, too. Too bad a menacing presence threatens to destroy them. (ENTANGLED TEEN, Nov., 352 pp., $9.99, ISBN: 9781622660285, PB, 12 & Up)
