ONCE A LAWMAN (4.5) by Lisa Childs: Tessa Howard finds herself on the wrong side of the law, and officer Chad Michalski is the man fate has picked to end her law-breaking ways. Despite getting on each other's last nerve, this traffic felon and cop-class instructor can't seem to stay apart. Unfortunately, old insecurities threaten to separate them permanently, until Tessa's family gets involved. Even the improbable plot conventions that threaten to bog down the storyline (i.e., Tessa's role in the lives of her five young siblings) can't keep this effervescent love story from rising to the top of this month's crop.
