ONCE A RANGER (4.5) by Carrie Weaver: PI Tony Perez follows a con man who preys on women to an Arizona resort and finds Will Sterling targeting lottery winner and accountant Kat Monroe for his next con. Kat, who always picks bad boys that run out on her, falls for Sterling’s apparent good-guy image, even though she’s attracted to Tony. A novel plotline and first-rate characterization make this a keeper. Readers won’t want to put this one down.
