Book Review

ONE GOOD TURN
by Carla Kelly

Genre: Regency Period, England

RT Rating

All the characters in ONE GOOD TURN are so immediately realistic and sympathetic that it is easy to feel as if one has known them before.

Liria, the lovely Spanish dama with a young son to protect, is so amazingly noble in her compassion and serenity, yet so human and frail. Nez, the impulsive Duke, is a hero who is easily larger than life, yet approachable and kindhearted.

When these two fragile, wounded souls turn to each other for help it is inevitable that love will triumph in their lives.

This book moved me to tears, not once, but three times, by its rendering of both the horror and the exultation of spirit that is possible in tragic circumstances. The imagination of Carla Kelly is truly a treasure, and ONE GOOD TURN is certainly a distinctive jewel worth keepingand reading many times over. (Dec., 216 pp., $4.99)
